Washington County Health Department has developed response plans to public health emergencies in conjunction/cooperation with other federal, state, and county agencies. Plans include but are not limited to: Isolation and Quarantine; Multi- Hazard Mitigation plans; Strategic National Stockpile plan; Local Emergency Prep and Response plan; Evacuation plan; and Shelter in Place planning.
WCHD conducts surveillance activities 24 hours a day to identify health threats to the community and intervene with prophylactic treatments to individuals and at-risk contacts. Surveillance activities are reported to the Department of Mental Hygiene through a database system and additionally by telephone if needed. Consultations with medical specialists, infection control practitioners, labs and epidemiologists occur daily.
