Adult Evaluation and Review Services conducts an on-site professional evaluation to assess an individual's ability to manage basic needs of daily living. This comprehensive evaluation of one's medical, functional, social, and environmental status is done by a Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Clinical Social Worker. The individual is then referred to appropriate services, with the ultimate goal of helping him or her to remain in the least restrictive environment while functioning at their highest level of independence and personal well-being.
  • Appointment is required for an evaluation; home visits are made.
  • Referrals are accepted from any source
  • There is no charge for an evaluation

The Adult Dental Clinic provides limited services for adults that focus on diagnosis, stabilization, and pain management at the Health Department, 1302 Pennsylvania Avenue. For an appointment, please contact the program at 240-313-3253.

Appointments are required.


ADULT IMMUNIZATIONS     240-313-3210

The Health Department provides immunizations to adults 18 years and older on the 2nd and 4th Thursday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, by appointment.

Immunizations offered to adults, by appointment, include: Hepatitis B, Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR), Pre-Exposure and Post-Exposure Rabies, Tetanus Diphtheria (Td), and Varicella (Chicken Pox). Special clinics are held for Influenza and Pneumonia.

There is a cost for all vaccines received and a $10 administration fee. The costs of vaccines are on a sliding scale which is based on your income.

To schedule an appointment please call 240-313-3210, Monday - Friday from 8 AM- 4 PM.

It is important to bring your immunization record with you to your visit, especially with the date when you received your last Tetanus vaccine.




PERSONAL CARE ASSISTANCE     240-313-3231

The Personal Care Program allows elderly, chronically ill, physically or mentally disabled persons to remain in their homes by providing staff to assist with daily activities such as: feeding, dressing, bathing, meal preparation, grooming, and ambulation.

  • The program pays for a personal care provider and a registerd nurse case monitor.
  • Applicants may qualify if they are eligible for Medical Assistance and live in Washington County.
  • To determine if you or your family member is eligible for service, please telephone 240-313-3231.

FREE Mammograms, clinical breast exams and Pap tests are available to women who meet the following guidelines:

  1. 40 years of age or older
  2. Income within specified guidelines
  3. No health insurance or insurance does not pay for these exams
  4. Maryland resident

Financial assistance is also available to women of any age who are diagnosed with precancerous or cancerous conditions of the breast or cervix.

COLON CANCER SCREENING     240-313-3235

FREE colonoscopies are available to county residents who meet the following guidelines:

  1. Age 50 or older, or at high risk for colon cancer (personal or family history)
  2. Income within specified guidelines
  3. No health insurance or insurance does not pay for this exam
  4. Resident of Washington County
Financial assistance is also available to patients screened through our program who may need additional diagnostic testing and/or treatment related to colon cancer.
