FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions


Following are some of the questions our staff is most frequently asked:


How can I get a pregnancy test?

Pregnancy testing is available at the Health Department Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. There is no charge for this service. Although appointments are not necessary, we encourage you to telephone 240-313-3296 for additional information about services relating to pregnancy.


Can I walk in and get a drug test (urinalysis) for a court appearance or legal dispute?

Yes, walk-ins are welcome.

Note:  This office is located at 13114 Pennsylvania Avenue.


Do you have pamphlets on different drugs available in your lobby?

Yes, we strive to keep our lobby area "stocked" with both alcohol/drug treatment and self-help informational pamphlets. These pamphlets are free to the public.


How do I get a copy of my birth certificate?

Refer to our Vital Statistics page for information on Birth and Death Certificates.


Can you help me stop smoking?

We hope so! Call our Stop Smoking for Life program at 240-420-1796.
