This program coordinates existing prevention activities and interagency programs. Outreach services are also provided to promote healthy lifestyles and empower individuals to assume greater responsibility for their own health. Target populations for programming include families, at-risk youth, minorities, special interest populations, and community groups.
Services provided include, but are not limited to, the following:
- comprehensive injury prevention program
- HIV health education and risk reduction
- senior citizen programs
- child passenger safety initiatives
- community-based prevention programs
- community outreach & awareness activities
- community traffic safety program

FREE tobacco cessation classes and individual consultations! Classes meet for eight (8) sessions over a four (4) week period. Classes are held at the Health Department and throughout Washington County. Cessation aids, such as nicotine replacement therapy patches, are available to eligible Washington County residents while supplies last. The staff is also available for community and worksite presentations about the dangers of tobacco, nicotine addiction and secondhand smoke.
